AP Course Audit is what allows a school to get the AP label. When your school has an AP label attached to it, it shows that your school is of a high standard.
Having classes that have an AP label attached to them would help you to apply to schools that offer good education and have high standards.
Even if your courses do not carry the AP label, you can still write AP exams. Having an AP label enables your students to have a better transcript. The AP course does not demand a particular scheme of work, it can change or vary.
How does Auditing take place?
AP auditing takes place once a year. When you are being audited for the first time, this is what you do:
- Open an account with the college board.
- Submit the AP audit form.
- Submit your syllabus too.
- An administrator will approve your syllabus if it is accepted.
- Your syllabus will then be finally sent to an external college reviewer for final approval.
When you have a good news, which is that your syllabus has been approved, you would be notified through your email.
When you have received authorization, you do not need to submit again the following year unless the teacher in charge of it has been transferred.
The AP course Audit confirms that the teacher is aware of the course scope and occasional exam changes which might occur due to one reason or the other.
The teacher who has authority over the course will automatically have access to the confidential part of the exam and other materials reserved for the AP teacher alone.
The courses are also included in the AP course ledger so that the student can be sure of what they see on their transcript.
On the other hand, you have bad news when your syllabus has not been approved because the reviewer has seen that your syllabus does not meet the standard.
The administrator passes your syllabus to a senior reviewer who would send you an email explaining to you why your syllabus was not approved then you can make some adjustments based on the corrections.
If you have submitted your syllabus for the third time that year, it would not be approved again till the next year.

Creation of syllables and course materials.
Each college is responsible for creating its own curriculum. When you are done preparing your courses and how you want them to be, the teacher will submit them so that they can get very much involved in the process.
The external supervisors will receive the course within a period of 8 weeks. If your course syllables are approved, then the teacher will participate in a training session organised by the college. If yours wasn’t accepted then you review it again and re-submit.
