For the past two decades, the Shannon O’Brien School of Dance has been teaching students in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, producing professional dancers, choreographers, teachers, scholarship winners, competition winners, and generally happier individuals.
About the Shannon O’Brien School of Dance:
Shannon O’Brien Marshall founded the Shannon O’Brien School of Dance (SOSD) in 1992 with the objective of offering high-quality dance instruction to children in Rhode Island and Southeast Massachusetts.
The school’s first studio space was in a modest structure in Attleboro, but it quickly outgrew it. The school was bursting at the seams by the sixth year of SOSD.
Many dancers who are now working in the performing arts have received their training from the Shannon O’Brien School of Dance.
SOSD graduates have gone on to study at colleges and universities across the country, including Julliard in New York City.
SOSD Dancers are receiving full talent scholarships to college dance programs, performing professionally throughout the United States and Europe, and teaching at studios, high schools, and colleges.
How does Shannon O’Brien School of Dance work?
- Season Opens the last week of October/first week of November.
- Classes Run through June.
- Dancers start to learn choreography for the recital in the Spring.
- Studio closes for the first few weeks of July.
- Optional 4 Week Summer Dance Program.
Tuition Fees at Shannon O’Brien School of Dance
The first class of each month is when all tuition is due. The tuition is calculated based on a four-week month. Whether it’s a 3-week or 5-week month, tuition will be the same. Absences or cancellations do not result in a refund.
Classes that are missed due to absences or cancellations can be made up in a class with students of comparable age and ability. Makeup is recommended but not required.
Note that owing to preparations for our Annual Dance Extravaganza in October, make-up may not be accessible during certain months.
More so, on January 3rd Regular Classes Resume with classes close on June 26th-July 16th.

General Policies at Shannon O’Brien School of Dance
Missed classes:
Missed classes can be made up in a class with students of comparable age and ability. Only the month in which a class is missed may be made up.
Inclement Weather:
When classes are canceled due to bad weather, the first line of communication for SOSD will be via email.

Attendance:
Training at Shannon O’Brien School of Dance is a continuous process. Excessive absences prevent dancers from reaching their full potential.
Attendance is very vital while we are teaching choreography in May and June, as well as when we are preparing for their recital (Sept & Oct).
