Baylor Law School aspires to merge quality in teaching and scholarship with a Christian conviction in order to produce lawyers who can practice law competently, serve with compassion, and lead effectively and ethically.

The core values at Baylor Law school includes:

  • Excellence in Teaching within a Supportive Environment
  • Meaningful scholarship
  • Professionalism
  • Service

The Legal Clinics at Baylor Law provide students with hands-on experience with real-world client matters.

As part of the School’s commitment to pro bono public service, students go out into the community and meet and work with clients who have actual needs and issues—and who, for the most part, cannot afford a lawyer.

Many clinics are open all year under the supervision of a professor and a certified attorney. The majority of these opportunities are unpaid, but they all give students with significant experience.

Curriculum at Baylor Law School:

Baylor is now one of the most practice-oriented law schools in the country. The academic program has been designed to meet several objectives, in keeping with Baylor’s established mission of preparing students to be great practicing attorneys.

The curriculum helps students acquire the intellectual and analytical abilities required to practice law.

It introduces students to the essential legal concepts and values necessary for them to act as competent and literate professionals, as well as providing opportunities for more specialized study in areas of interest.

All students receive skills training in advocacy (including trial and appellate advocacy), client counseling, planning, drafting, negotiating, legal writing, and legal research as part of the curriculum.

As a result, Baylor requires students to finish a thorough course of study in legal theory and doctrine essentials.

On the other hand, Baylor’s fundamental educational purpose of teaching students with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to be good beginning attorneys relies heavily on the large compulsory curriculum.

While the curriculum is demanding, the Baylor Law experience is much more than academics.

Students who dive in discover programs that expand their professional and leadership skills, connect them to student organizations, provide access to public and community service opportunities, assist them in navigating their academic journey, and foster the kind of friendships that blossom in a close-knit, mutually supportive family.
