Loyal (as well as Loyalty) and Faithful are two words that most persons use interchangeably.
They both appear to have the same meaning, but there is a slight distinction between them, which also has to do with the context of usage.
Both of them are from the family of sincerity and have a common root. Despite this, their differences are still distinct.
This article will compare “Loyal vs. Faithful”, stating their meanings, similarities and differences.
Loyalty has to do with indebtedness, owing allegiance to someone or something due to what you benefited (benefitting) from that person or thing.
It is your commitment and sincerity to someone based on previous meetings, hoping to establish a long-term relationship for future advantages, if any.
Both parties have personal interests, and one is subject to the other by what has been sorted for, but most of the time by what has been obtained.
For example, someone who helped you secure a very wonderful, very excellent position or asset is worthy of your humility.
Moreover, for the purpose of your anticipation, or someone from whom you expect a big favor, you will always owe them your commitment, sincerity, and honesty.
In this context or relationship, there must be a virtue or favour received, a receiver or beneficiary of the virtue, and a superior who has or gave the virtue.
A loyal person is someone who expresses the act of loyalty. The loyal one showcases indebtedness and commitment to the other as a result of past experiences.
A person cannot only be loyal to his fellow person (human) but can also be loyal to institutions, firms, brands, teams, or even themselves.
This can be as a result of experiences, relationships, and connections between the two parties.
Loyalty can also be expressed to a Country. This is where Loyalty can be likened to patriotism.
The intense feeling of affection, sincerity, and commitment comes from you to your homeland (Country).
Faithfulness has to do with dedication from one to the other based on a strong belief in the person’s personality and the unchanging ability of this personality.
Trust has a role to play in faithfulness, for instance, “I am faithful to you because I trust that you won’t change or fail me”. It is the drive to the act of being faithful.
Faithfulness also engulfs what is expected in the future; this strong belief, dedication, and trust to get what is being expected.
In another context, faithfulness can mean “meeting up to an obligation and expected role or requirements”.
The two definitions are very much correlated, but for the course of this article, we’ll be going solely based on the first definition of Faithfulness.

One is termed “faithful” when one expresses the act of faithfulness.
One clearly defines, applies, and showcases the qualities of being faithful.
Moreover, it involves practices based on trust in the unchanging character of the person.
It also has to do with personal feelings and not about past experiences.
A faithful individual acts and behaves not out of duty, but out of passion and excitement for what the future holds.
At the same time, faithfulness is an expression that comes as a result of trust in a personality and its unchanging ability. It also has to deal with the future and what is expected.
Moreso, faithfulness does not depend on past experiences but has its grounds basically on trust.
On the other hand, faithfulness is always more intimate and has to do with people like family, relatives, close ones, etc.
The similarity between Loyalty and Faithfulness cannot be clearly stated but can be seen in this manner. We all know that after undergoing a process, there is an outcome or result.
Now, faithfulness is the process of being loyal, and loyalty is the outcome of faithfulness.
Faithfulness is the process, and Loyalty is the outcome.
In a bid to appear loyal, the act of faithfulness is being expressed so that this point can be attained.
However, faithfulness is embedded into Loyalty.
People have been so confused over the years about the differences and interrelationships between these two terms or behaviors that they don’t even care.
They end up using them interchangeably without actually conveying their honest thoughts.
However, we can’t afford to neglect this little distinction between these two words; that is why this article has been put through for you to have a clearer view and understanding of the two worlds and how they operate.
