Class rank reporting is an exact number indicating your academic rank within your graduating class. A school uses class rank reporting to take a student’s class rank.

How to check for Class Rank:

For you to know your class rank, check your most recent report card, but if you don’t see it, don’t panic because some schools (mostly private schools) don’t make use of the class rank system.

Types of Class Rank:

Weighted class rank:

Weighted class rank uses a standard 0 to 5.0 scale to measure a student’s performance. It is calculated using a weighted GPA and takes the difficulty of a student’s coursework into account.

Unweighted class rank:

It is the class rank that uses a standard 0 to 4.0 scale to measure student’s performance. It is calculated using an unweighted GPA and doesn’t take the difficulty of a student’s coursework into account.

How to calculate a Class Rank Percentile:

Divide your class rank by the number of student in year grade, multiply by 100, then subtract that number from 100.

= 100 – (Class Rank/no of student * 100)

so if your class rank is 40th and the number of student in your school is 300, that means your percentile is

= 100 – (40/300 * 100)
