In comparing “GED vs. High School Diploma,” most times, students who were homeschooled through the High school period feel incomplete because they didn’t graduate with a High School Diploma, which is a singular proof of the attendance of a High school.

On the other hand, homeschoolers also have a way of getting a certification similar to that of a High School Diploma, called a GED certificate.

GED vs. High School Diploma

Meaning of GED:

Although GED has other meanings, it is generally known as the “General Educational Test.”

Students without a diploma certificate take several exams to show if they have got a high school education.

This exam can also be taken if your child has difficulties passing the high school diploma exam, which would help him or her get done with high school.

Getting a GED certificate doesn’t take long; the test is just a maximum of 7 hours, covering the major subjects learned in high school.

There are four main courses involved in the exam, and the student must reach a good score to qualify for a GED certificate.

You can take the exam online or in-person sitting in a qualified center.

You can use the GED certificate to qualify for a job or get admission into a college because many colleges and universities accept this certificate, especially if you have a good SAT or ACT score.

Writing a diploma exam is free, unlike a GED test which you have to pay for. Also, getting a job with a diploma certificate is much easier than with a GED certificate.

It is not harder to get a GED than a high school diploma. Some might say it’s easier because there are only four topics. But this depends on what you’re good at.
